Steve Ballard has over twenty-five years of experience in the acquisition and management of personally owned rental and income producing properties. As a member of the Debra Griggs and Partners team, Steve predominantly handles property listings. He is very aggressive in assessing property values, but realistic and observant with respect to the needs of the seller. Steve also specializes in working with investor clients. 

Steve became a professional engineer in 1976 but now devotes his full attention to real estate.  His civil engineering background provides special insights in assessing undeveloped land, and  property that can be redeveloped. He makes a habit of exploring ALL of the alternatives for property development; some of which are rather innovative. Steve is an expert at addressing regulatory issues with local authorities dealing with planning, zoning and utilities and he has been particularly persuasive in applications for tax abatement, saving homeowners tens of thousands of tax dollars. Steve serves all of Southside Hampton Roads, including the cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Isle of Wight County. Because of his engineering business, he has developed an unusual knowledge of the outlying, rural areas of Chesapeake, Suffolk and Isle of Wight.Steve is currently a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Norfolk.

Katherine Knaus adds depth and dimension to the team serving as our Buyers Specialist.   Katherine's determination, dedication, attention to detail, professionalism and experience make her a valuable resource for locating a home in Hampton Roads.  She is especially versed in the Norfolk market whether it be downtown condominiums or single family homes.  As the wife of a military officer, she understands the process and challenges a military family goes through when relocating to a new area.  

Katherine actively participates in community volunteer activities.  She is a member of The Junior League Norfolk Virginia Beach and has served on the organization's board in various capacities.  She is an active member of The Union of Hands Circle, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.  On the distaff side, she participates in the Theodore Roosevelt Officer Spouse Association and the VAW Spouse Association.  Katherine enjoys gardening, white water rafting and traveling.
